THANKSGIVING

What a wonderful Thanksgiving we had, first the trip to Mountain Market Place Mission in West Virginia where we help give out 572 turkeys. What a blessing to be able to help Gary and Lily Melton minister to the folks in the area.

Thanksgiving day we spent with our daughter Karen and her husband Cecil in West Columbia along with, grandson Tim and the two greats, Carson and Bella. Also our daughter Hope, her husband Justin and Little Walker. Cecil's parents Cecil and Jean were also there along with his brother Craig and his wife

Hope and Walker spent part of Friday and Saturday here in Saluda with us while Justin went to the Carlina Clemson game. That made a great Thanksgiving for us, just wish that our other children, Preston and Pam with their families could have joined in.

Oh well, Christmas is just around the corner and looking forward to another time with the family.

HOME AT LAST

So good to be home, don't ever remember home looking so good, even the brown grass looked beautiful. Now for the catching up while we were away, grass to be cut, attempts to try and bring back some of our trees and shrubs, looks like we've lost some. If we could have brought back some of the rain we had while we were on vacation things would be different.

This trip was the least enjoyed that we've taken, of course a lot had to do with our being sick most of the time. I should have taken Marianne's advise when we were in New York and returned home.

Hopefully when I get my strength back and get in the mood I will post some pictures for you to see. Right now just looking to get back in the saddle again. Thanks for your continued prayers.

ON THE ROAD

We didn't get to leave the parking lot at Wal-Mart because of the traffic backup on I-83 so we spent the night along with 14 others. We traveled early this morning to Lancaster to attend the Sights and Sound production of Joseph.

Prior to attending the performance we enjoyed lunch (As always) at Good and Plenty Restaurant. Believe me it was the best meal I enjoyed on the whole trip. Yes, I did the unpardonable,I had fried chicken. (Saved a piece for later too) Will have to eat rabbit food the rest of the trip.

Enjoyed the performance of Joseph tonight, I believe we have now seen five different performances at Sights and Sound, have enjoyed them all.

After a nights rest we will be heading out shortly for home. This will be out last post until we bring you up to date after arriving home on Thursday. Seems like we have been gone three months. Looking forward to seeing out friends and neighbors.

ON THE ROAD

Day 10
After breakfast in the MH we went into Dartmouth to the ferry terminal to take pictures of the Harbor. We visited several other sights of interest and then out to a fishing village to look around, there we found numerous restaurants but left to go to Halifax and tour some sights to down town.

We then traveled to Peggy’s Cove a very interesting sight with the lighthouse and the bay we took a different way back to the MH as the GPS lead us on the wrong route out to the cove. I believe the GPS has been our worst enemy as well as a very helpful item several times.

Since I still am having tire problems after we visit Laurinburg in the morning we will again be looking for a tire dealer.

Day 11
Waking up to rain I went to McDonald’s for some Hot Cakes which we ate in the MH with Turkey Bacon and Coffee. Afterwards I drove to the tire center doors at Wal-Mart and got air for my tire and proceeded to Folksville, NS. After driving an hour we realized the dependable GPS had once again played another trick on us. I had enough, the wrong direction, the rain; I decided it was time to head home.

Along the way plans were changed and we went further north and came in at on I-95 at Houlton, ME and are staying at, “My Brother’s Place" Campground. Tomorrow we will visit, Presque Isle, Me, and the largest covered bridge in the world in Hartland, CA, and other scenic sights.
